If you are waiting on a delivery, you want one thing: a straight answer about where your parcel is and when it will arrive. This guide covers exactly how Fleet Express tracking works, what each status means in plain English, and what to do when something does not look right.
Track your parcel in three steps
You do not need an account, an app, or a login to track a Fleet Express delivery.
- Go to the Fleet Express tracking page.
- Enter your tracking number — it looks like FL1234567890GB.
- Press Track. Your parcel's full journey appears immediately.
You can also track straight from the box on the Fleet Express homepage, which is usually the quickest route on a phone.
Once your tracking page loads, the tracking number sits in the web address. Bookmark that page and you can jump straight back to your parcel's status without typing the number again.
Where to find your tracking number
Your tracking number is 14 characters: FL, ten digits, then GB. Depending on how the parcel was sent, you will find it in one of these places:
- You booked the delivery yourself — it is in your booking confirmation email and on the shipping label you printed.
- You bought something online — the retailer emails it when the parcel is dispatched. Check your spam folder, and search your inbox for "FL" plus "GB".
- You have a Fleet Express account — every shipment is listed in your dashboard after you log in.
- You have the parcel receipt — it is printed under the barcode on your drop-off receipt.
If the retailer has not sent a tracking number yet, the parcel most likely has not been collected from them. That is a question for the seller rather than for us — we cannot create a tracking record before a parcel enters our network.
What each tracking status means
Tracking language is where most confusion starts. Here is what our statuses actually mean.
| Status | What it means | What happens next |
|---|---|---|
| Shipping Soon | The label has been created and we are expecting the parcel, but we have not physically scanned it yet. | The sender drops it off or we collect it. Usually updates within one working day. |
| In Transit | The parcel is in our network and moving between depots. | It travels to the depot closest to the delivery address. |
| Out for Delivery | It is on a van with a driver today. | Delivery happens that day, typically between 8am and 6pm. |
| Delivered | Handed over or left in the agreed safe place. | A delivery photo is added to your tracking page. |
| Returned | We could not deliver and the parcel is going back to the sender. | Contact the sender to rebook or arrange a refund. |
| Pending | The parcel is held — often an incomplete address or a failed delivery attempt. | Get in touch so we can release it. |
"Out for delivery" but nothing arrived
Drivers work a planned route and occasionally run out of daylight. If a parcel shows as out for delivery and does not turn up, it almost always goes out again the next working day without you doing anything. Check the tracking page the following morning before calling.
Unlocking the full delivery address
Fleet Express masks part of the recipient's name and postcode on the public tracking page by default. That is deliberate: a tracking number alone should never expose somebody's home address to whoever happens to have the number.
To see the full address, enter the delivery postcode in the box alongside the tracking number. If it matches our record, the complete address is revealed. This proves you are the sender, the recipient, or someone they have shared the postcode with.
Delivery photos and proof of delivery
Every Fleet Express delivery is photographed. The moment a parcel is marked Delivered, the photo appears on your tracking page showing exactly where it was left — on a doorstep, in a porch, with a neighbour, or in the recipient's hands.
This matters for two reasons. If you are a seller, it is your evidence in an item-not-received dispute on eBay, Etsy, or a marketplace chargeback. If you are a recipient, it usually finds the parcel faster than a phone call ever will: most "missing" parcels are behind a bin, under a doormat, or in a shed the photo shows clearly.
On the tracking page you can enter your email address to get an automatic notification when the parcel is delivered. Useful when you are at work and want to know your parcel is not sitting outside all evening.
Tracking has not updated — should I worry?
Tracking updates when a parcel is scanned, not continuously. Gaps are normal and rarely mean anything is wrong. Expect quiet periods:
- Overnight, while parcels move between depots on trunk vehicles.
- Over a weekend or bank holiday, when fewer scans happen.
- On long journeys, such as the south coast to the Highlands.
- In the first 24 hours after a label is created but before drop-off.
Our rule of thumb: two full working days with no new scan is the point to get in touch. Before then, the parcel is almost certainly moving and simply has not hit a scan point.
When you do contact us, call 0800 079 3859 with your tracking number to hand. Our UK team can see depot-level detail that is not on the public page, including which vehicle a parcel is loaded on. You can also send us a message and we will reply within two hours during business hours.
Tracking a parcel you are sending
If you are the sender, tracking starts before the parcel moves. When you book a delivery, the tracking number is issued with your label, so you can share it with your customer at the point of dispatch rather than waiting for the first scan.
For anyone shipping regularly, a Fleet Express business account puts every shipment on one dashboard, with volume pricing and monthly invoicing instead of paying per parcel.
Frequently asked questions
A few things we get asked most often — the short answers are in the FAQ section below this article, and our full delivery FAQ page covers collections, insurance, redelivery and claims in more detail.
Still stuck?
If your tracking number will not load at all, check that you have all 14 characters and that the number came from Fleet Express rather than another courier — a number that starts with anything other than FL belongs to a different carrier and will not work on our system.
Anything else, we are here Monday to Friday 8am–6pm and Saturday 9am–1pm on 0800 079 3859, or through the contact form. Real people, UK-based, no chatbots.
